Teddy Bear Hospital working group meeting 1

📅 18:30-20:00 28/10/2026

📍 UZ Gent, K3 classroom 3.3

At the ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’, we briefly turn children into doctors and their cuddly toys into patients. During the week of 22/02-26/02, we transform the Sterre into a mini hospital. We do this to take away the fear of ‘the white coat’ and to introduce children to a hospital setting in a playful way. To organise this project, we’re looking for volunteers! Would you like to come up with the activity stations, put the project in the spotlight or simply be part of a fantastic working group? Then come to the first meeting on 28/10 at 18:00!
See you then!

Global Surgery 101: Little Lives, Global Challenges

📅 19:00 03/11/2026

📍 UZ Gent, The Core

Every child deserves access to safe and timely healthcare. Yet, in conflict zones, access to appropriate treatment can be a major challenge.
We explore this issue through an interdisciplinary panel discussion on the realities, challenges and ethical questions surrounding pediatric care in conflict zones.

Step into the challenge yourself! Take part in an interactive experience and discover what it means to provide specialised care under time pressure. Put yourself in the shoes of healthcare providers who must make critical decisions in challenging circumstances.
Whether you’re a medical student, a future healthcare professional or simply curious about global health and humanitarian care, this is your chance to broaden your perspective, engage in meaningful discussions and experience the pressure healthcare professionals face when providing care in challenging circumstances.

Come curious, leave inspired and discover how we can work towards a world where every child has a chance at safe and accessible care.
See you there!

What After Basic Medical Training?

📅 19:00-21:30 17/11/2026

📍 UZ Gent, Auditorium D

Hey everyone!!
Are you curious about everything that’s possible after your basic medical training, beyond the classic specialisations?
“What After Basic Medical Training?” focuses specifically on the wide range of career opportunities after your medical degree.
During this panel discussion, we mainly bring together doctors who are active in lesser-known fields. They share their personal experiences and show how they found their own way off the traditional path. In this way, we want to make it clear that your future as a doctor is much broader than just the well-known specialisations.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll announce who will be coming to tell you their story. An ideal opportunity to get to know both the less obvious and the more familiar paths better and to broaden your own outlook on the future! One thing is already certain: it will be a fascinating evening full of surprising insights for everyone!

We hope to see you there!
See you then!
